LAKE HISTORY

Keeping it real at Velocity

The Ethos at Velocity Angling is all about keeping it real

Velocity Angling Complex was formed early in 2007 and has been open to the general public since 29th September 2007, before this the fishery was know as Blakeway farm fisheries.
Up until last year the lakes were known to many local anglers as a pike fishery.
The 4 lakes were first dug in 1973 and came about from a former peat digging and flooded from the local rivers.
The lakes first stocking would have come from the rivers when flooding occurred, they were then initially stocked in the early 90s by the previous owner with a mix of species but mainly pike, perch, rudd and roach, there was also a low stocking of bream, tench and carp introduced. Currently 3 of the lakes are open to fish and soon the 4th Lake will be reconnected back to the main lake.

Facilities

On the complex at present there are 2 porta loo toilets, an opportunity to charge any electrical items and a quad drop off and pick up of anglers kit to and from swims service. There is an onsite tackle shop and many items can be ordered through the shop from a multitude of companies. Of particular interest the shop always has a decent stock of GB Baits available .

Future Plans

There are many plans to improve both the fishing and the venue as a whole. New out buildings are being built to provide anglers with more facilities and hopefully improve generally peoples time at the venue. As always there is an ongoing investment in the fish stocks which should offer the angler a challenge without pulling your hair out in the process. In the near future Silverwood Lake will be extended to 26+ Acres offering more space and more features for the angler.
