| In October 2009 it was decided that SIlverwood Lake would be turned into a Syndicate. Oakdene and Pearl Pool both remain day ticket waters and offer good sport for the price of a day ticket. Season tickets are available for these two lakes. The decision to turn Silverwood Lake syndicate was taken after the current season ticket holders voted unanimously in favour of closing the water to day ticket anglers. The owner Shane is very aware that you guys out there are his bread and butter and that you are as important to the future of the venue as the stocks in the lake and the facilities he has plans for in the future. So it was with a lot of thought that the syndicate route was taken to ensure both the quality of angling and the anglers could be maintained in order that your experience be as pure as possible. |
"Quote from Shane Alway Veclocity Complex owner " The History of Velocity Angling Lakes The lakes were first formed in the mid 70s as an ex-peat digging, which has 4 lakes set on just under 40 acres of beautiful countryside, set in the heart of the Avalon wetlands, no motorway traffic, nor busy roads and in the middle of nowhere! Just you, your other fellow anglers and an ambience of not just trying to catch the fish of your dreams but being at one with nature, having what I call ‘Me Time!’ The first stocking of carp came about in the mid 90s by the previous owner with a low stocking of 300 fingerlings into 23 acres of water, by this time nearly 15 years on from first flooding there was a very high population of pike and the chances of any carp surviving was slim. With the water’s perfect clarity and high volumes of weed in the summer months I assumed that less than 1% of carp stocked had survived? Since opening the fishery in September 2007 there have been 12 original carp that have graced the banks, 4 grass carp to an ounce under 25lb, and 2 common carp to low 20s plus half a dozen single commons. All of these fish were first time caught fish and I have no doubt there are other originals swimming around in the depths of Velocity Angling’s 23 acre Silverwood Lake. In the late spring of 2007 it was time to introduce my stocking of Broad Oaks from the hatchery to the lakes. It is hard to get any balance with regards to anything fishery driven, whether it be carp stock volumes & sizes, swim locations (how many), the amount of weed you want to leave in the water to reproduce naturals, planting of bank and aquatic plants/trees etc… Some anglers are very hard to please and expect instant big carp fishing, which is not the reality, so we stocked fish to just over 40 with 6 x 30s and a load of 20s and double from no lower than 12lbs, to try and get a good balance of target fish, but at the same time bringing smaller fish in to ‘grow-on’. I am now nearly 3 years in from the time I got the go ahead to make a start, on what would be known as Velocity Angling Complex, there is still lots of work to be achieved over the next 24 months before we are up to ‘the standard’ I expect, and believe me my standards are high, and don’t the staff know it! |
As you can see from above Shane has the right motovation for making Silverwood Lake syndicate only. Much thought was put into how to make the syndicate as accessible as possible to all anglers and as a result Shane has put in place a payment scheme to cover most options. For the cost of a joining fee of £50 and a £40 per month standing order for 10 months
you can be a part of the syndicate which works out at £37.50 per month over the 12 months
When you consider the cost of a weekends fishing is now around £40 plus you are getting a great deal of £40 per month and the lake exclusive to you 15% discount in the tackle shop on any purchase. 25% off ECHO membership. 50% off tuition lessons. Members are allowed to fish a limit of 4 rods. Introduce a friend to the syndicate and get a free tuition day or a discount on your next seasons ticket. |
